Amarinthos is famous for its beautiful beaches, the picturesque taverns and due to its proximity to Athens, it is a very good choice for a trip. It also attracts many Greek and foreign tourists during the summer months with many visiting the area for a tour of the Skotini plateau.
One of the most beautiful monuments of Amarinthos is the Cathedral of the Annunciation, which is made of chiseled stone, with expertly crafted marble iconostasis and masterful painting from the Byzantine period. The Holy Monastery of St. Nicholas with its rare frescoes built in the 12th century, is also admirable, and is located in a forest at an altitude of 500 meters on Mount Kotylaia.
Over the Palaiohora, the church of the Assumption (Panagitsa), built between 11th-12th century on the foundations of a pre-Christian temple (possibly an Apollo temple) is located next to a Neolithic settlement in ruins, while on the way to the hill there is also a small Church of the Transfiguration.
The Folklore Museum of Amarinthos with old artifacts and tools of the residents of Amarinthos , attracts a lot of tourists. The handmade products of the traditional loom are also striking.
About one kilometer west of the city, in the area of Vlychos , there is a majestic Macedonian tomb of the Hellenistic period, which was discovered in 1897.
